Work Experience:
Illinois Medical District Commission – Chicago, IL
Development and Administrative Consultant
Development Projects:
The primary development task was to consolidate the real estate asset inventory system and Accounting department reports into a centralized database-driven application. Designed for the Legal and Accounting departments, this solution stored critical physical asset and real estate data. Project development was supplemented with custom-built Quality Assurance tools. Additional development tasks included IMD web site development, and an Outlook-integrated Trouble-Ticket system.
Network/Security Administration:
Numerous network and security projects were completed for this client. Project work fell under four categories: Systems Migrations, Security, Disaster Recovery, and General Administration.
Significant migrations included moving to Exchange 2000, PDC services to Windows Server 2003, and the IMD network infrastructure to a new T1 provider. Security projects included construction of two Linux firewalls, a Linux-based email filtering server, and creation of new network auditing procedures. For Disaster Recovery, I was chosen to define and author a new Disaster Recovery Policy. I assisted in its implementation, and was brought in as a consultant during three separate disaster situations. To reduce costs and increase control and accessibility, I also internalized IMD Domain Name Services by building a new, custom DNS server. Additionally, I was in charge of all Level 3 end user support as necessary.
